With regular oral examinations and hygiene cleanings at Bearbrook Dental Centre, we can help you prevent any dental issues and keep your smile healthy.
Ideally twice each year, you'll see your dentist for regular oral exams. These checkups give our team the opportunity to identify any oral health issues and make a plan to treat them accordingly.
During your exam, your dentist will closely inspect the health of your teeth, gums, bite and jaw. Exams can also include dental X-rays, an oral cancer screening and other diagnostic procedures.
Oral Health Care at Home
Brush your teeth twice a day, for two minutes each time, to keep your smile healthy between dental appointments. Floss at least once per day.
Before or after your exam, your dental hygienist will complete a deep cleaning of your teeth and gums to prevent and treat disease.
To start, a scaler will be used to eliminate any plaque and tartar that has built up. The hygienist will then remove any leftover stains or plaque with a polisher and coarse toothpaste. A thorough flossing of your teeth and gums will conclude the cleaning.
Are you or your child at high risk of tooth decay? Your dentist may also recommend a fluoride treatment. This natural mineral helps to rebuild the minerals in your tooth enamel to prevent or reverse tooth decay.
