At Bearbrook Dental Centre, our Ottawa dentist uses dental bridges to fill gaps left by missing teeth and restore your smile.
What is a Bridge?
Dental bridges are natural-looking restorations that 'bridge' the gap of teeth that may be missing in your mouth.
Consisting of one or more artificial teeth, a bridge is attached to teeth on either side of the gap to fill the space.
A bridge helps to prevent your other teeth from moving positions to fill the space. Misalignment may lead to more serious dental issues including gum disease.
The Bridge Procedure
Usually, two dental appointments will be required for a dental bridge procedure. Your dentist will first clean and re-contour your teeth before taking impressions, which are then sent to a specialized dental lab so your new dental bridge can be created.
Once it's ready, your dentist will place the dental bridge by permanently bonding it to your existing natural teeth, crowns or implants that have been placed as a foundation for this restoration.
Benefits of Dental Bridges
Each dental bridge is custom-made to fit your teeth specifically. The precise fit results in a smooth, natural look for your teeth.
Bridges can help restore your smile's natural contour, in addition to the bite between upper and lower teeth.
Thanks to your bridge, your general oral health, and your smile, can be restored.
